ACCREDITATION, ELIGIBILITY & APPLICATION

THE COMPETITION: The Hampton Classic Horse Show, one of the nation’s premier show jumping competitions, returns to Bridgehampton, NY, for its 45th year, August 29–September 5. The Classic hosts exciting hunter-jumper competition from junior levels up to the pinnacle of the sport, grand prix show jumping, featuring the $300,000 Hampton Classic Grand Prix CSI**** presented by Land Rover on Sunday, September 5. Highlights include:
Sunday, August 29 – Leadline classes, Opening Day Ceremonies, the $30,000 Jumper Challenge and $10,000 Marders Local Hunter Derby highlight Opening Day. Local hunter classes, including the Miller & Associates Local Junior hunter division, the East Hampton Star Local Professional division, and the Health Rover Local Amateur-Owner division take place in other rings throughout the day as well as Children’s (including the Knox School High Children’s Equitation) and Adult Equitation classes. Competition begins at 8:00 a.m.
Monday, August 30 - The Finals of the Long Island Horse Show Series for Riders with Disabilities Presented by Dime Bank will be the only competition beginning at 10:00 a.m. Spectators are also invited to shop in the Agneta Currey Boutique Garden or visit the Exhibition Tent. The Classic will host the 10th annual Animal Adoption Day presented by Gotham Enterprizes where adoptable cats and dogs will be in the Kids area from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and adoptable horses featuring horse rescues that are part of the EQUUS Foundation’s guardian program will be showcased in Hunter Ring 2 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. There is no admission charge on Monday. Competition begins at 10:00 a.m.
Tuesday, August 31 - Tuesday’s events include the $10,000 Gimme Shelter & Storey Brook Farm Open Jumper classes, $10,000 7 & Under Jumper class, Amateur and Junior Jumpers (including the Brown Harris Stevens Amateur/Amateur-Owner Low class), Green Working and High Performance Hunters, and Children’s Hunters. The Show The Bows Short-Stirrup classes and Championships will take place in the Annex Ring. Competition begins at 8:00 a.m.
Wednesday, September 1 - Competition continues in Amateur, Junior (including the Maria Mendelsohn Junior Jumper class), and Open Jumpers including the $10,000 Wölffer Estate Open Jumper class and the $10,000 Douglas Elliman Real Estate Open Jumper class. Amateur, Junior, and Adult Amateur Hunter classes (including the Carbon38 Adult Amateur 36-49 section) are also featured, as are the Green and High Performance Hunters and Children’s Hunter Classics. Competition begins at 8:00 a.m.
Thursday, September 2 –News 12 Long Island Kids Day will feature plenty of activities for the entire family from 10:00 a.m.-2:00p.m. Children under 12 receive a free pony ride. Jumper competition continues with $37,000 Speed Stake, as well as Amateur, Junior, and Children’s Jumper classes including the Washington International Equitation Classic, Jumper Phase. Hunter classes include Small and Large Junior Hunters, Adult Amateur Hunter Championships, and the $2,500 Adult Amateur Hunter Classic. USEF Adult Equitation and the Dover Saddlery/U.S. Hunter Seat Medal Qualifying class will also take place. Competition begins at 8:00 a.m.
Friday, September 3 - Friday features exciting events in the Grand Prix Ring starting at 8:00 a.m. including the $10,000 Lugano Diamonds Junior/Amateur Welcome Stake, the $10,000 7 & Under Jumpers Championship, and the $37,000 Jumper Classic. The $75,000 Grand Prix Qualifier will set the participant list for Sunday’s $300,000 Hampton Classic Grand Prix presented by Land Rover. The schedule also includes the TAK Protective Group Junior Jumper Classic, the Citarella Amateur/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic, Anna Klose Adult Amateur, Amateur and Junior Jumper Championships. In the other rings, the Hunter classes will take place for Amateur (including the Hunt Ltd. 3’6” Amateur-Owner Hunter 36+, Human Touch 3’3” Amateur-Owner Hunter 36+ and The Whitman Team 3’3” Amateur-Owner Hunter 18-35), Junior, and Ponies, featuring Small and Large Junior Hunter Championships.
Saturday, September 4 - The Grand Prix ring will host both phases of the $10,000 Equitation Championship beginning at 8:00 a.m. and the $15,000 Benetti Junior/Amateur Jumper Classic followed by the big event of the day, the $73,000 LONGINES Cup. The Jumper 2 Ring will host the $12,500 Amateur Jumper Classic, $12,500 Junior Jumper Classic, $5,000 Adult Amateur Jumper Classic, and $5,000 Children’s Jumper Classic. The other rings will host a multitude of Hunter championship classes for Amateurs, Juniors and the $2,500 Pony Hunter Classic.
Sunday, September 5 - The $10,000 Hampton Classic Hunter Classic is among the featured competitions on Grand Prix Sunday. The $5,000 Mane ‘n Tail Hunter Challenge winner will also be announced. The Grand Prix Ring begins with the $25,000 Agneta & Brownlee Currey Jumping Derby followed by the Amateur and Junior Jumper Championships. Winners of the Hamptons Cottages & Gardens VIP Table Décor contest are announced, and then the premiere event gets underway — the $300,000 Hampton Classic Grand Prix presented by Land Rover. The winner of the $30,000 LONGINES Rider Challenge will also be presented.

ELIGIBILITY FOR MEDIA CREDENTIALS

In order to be eligible to receive Media Credentials, you MUST:

  • Be associated with or on assignment for a recognized publication, news service, website, radio or television station;

  • Submit a letter of assignment, on the assigning company’s letterhead, with the request for Media credentials; and

  • Submit a copy of a published article or photograph resulting from your attendance at the 2018 or 2019 Hampton Classic or a copy of an article already published about the 2021 Hampton Classic. 

To ensure that those receiving Media credentials are bona fide members of the media and to maintain eligibility for the following year, you MUST provide a letter of assignment and proof of publication.
Editors assigning more than one photographer are asked to designate ONE primary photographer.
Please Use the Accompanying Form to Request Media Credentials. Media credentials must be requested using the accompanying form. Those approved for credentials should bring their letter of acceptance to the Will Call Booth by the main Spectator Entrance.

GRAND PRIX TENT ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 5

Media wishing to gain access to the VIP tent on Grand Prix Sunday must first attend a MANDATORY meeting on Sunday morning, September 5 with key personnel and security. Media will be given access to the VIP tent from 11:30 am - 12:45 pm. Media must sign in and out, failure to do so will result in denial of access for the following year (this also applies to official media partners including those that receive VIP access as part of their sponsorship agreement).
