Five years ago, Collin was bound for slaughter in Belgium – purchased for the price of meat – when Brazilian rider Luiz Francisco de Azevedo got a call to try and “do something with this crazy horse.” Thursday at the Hampton Classic, de Azevedo put his trust in Collin and they came away with the win in the $40,000 FEI Speed Stake.

The Hampton Classic represents the culmination of the outdoor season for many show hunters in America. Top hunters are crowned and now begin their preparations for the indoor fall events.

Adrienne Sternlicht claimed the $10,000 Wölffer Estate Open Jumper 1.40m speed class, with Fantast, their third win in a row at the Hampton Classic. They stopped the clock in a time of 55.868 seconds. Ireland’s Richie Moloney was second with Merqusio on a time of 57.121 seconds and Molly Ashe-Cawley and Berdien were third, in a time of 57.255 seconds.

Elli Yeager of Wellington, FL took top honors Tuesday afternoon in the Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent Search presented by The Atlantic Southampton.
