Georgina Bloomberg and Todd Minikus Top the $10,000 1.40 Jumper Classes In a five horse jump-off Shane Sweetnam of Ireland claimed victory in the $10,000 Great Southwest Equestrian Center Open Jumper 1.45 m class at the Hampton Classic Horse Show. Katie Cox was second and Beezie Madden, in her first competition since riding on the U.S.'s silver medal team at the Rio Olympic Games, was third. Shane Sweetnam and Main Road Win Great Southwest Equestrian Center Class Madden was the first to go in the jump-off riding Coach, owned by Abigail Wexner. Lauren Reischer Wins Grand Championship The Hampton Classic Horse Show was once again the proud host of the Championship Finals for the Long Island Horse Show Series (LIHSSRD) for Riders with Disabilities, presented by Bridgehampton National Bank. For the 11th consecutive year, the top qualifiers in three divisions competed for year-end titles with Lauren Reischer of New York, NY, winning the Grand championship. Reischer earned the Grand Championship by winning every class in the LIHSSRD Independent Finals Division. Day of education highlights animals available for adoption ASPCA Adoption and Animal Welfare Day celebrated its sixth year at the 41st annual Hampton Classic offering several types of animals for adoption. In addition to horses, dogs and cats, this year for the first time the Day included various breeds of rabbits that were rescued in a joint effort between the ASPCA and NYPD. McLain Ward sped to the top in the $30,000 Boar's Head Open Jumper Challenge, presented by Dan's Papers, on opening day at the Hampton Classic Horse Show. The win marked the four-time Olympic veteran's first competition since leading the US team to a silver medal at the Rio Olympic Games. Ward's 2004 gold medal Olympic teammate Peter Wylde was second and Shane Sweetnam of Ireland was third.
