Ireland’s Shane Sweetnam wins the $30,000 LONGINES Rider Challenge
The 43rd edition of the Hampton Classic Horse Show ended in spectacular fashion Sunday, with America’s McLain Ward of Brewster, NY, capturing the $300,000 Hampton Classic Grand Prix presented by Douglas Elliman for a record seventh time.
Stephanie Danhakl swept the top three places in the $10,000 Hermès Hunter Classic Sunday morning at the Hampton Classic, the final hunter competition at the 43rd edition of the horse show.
Taylor St. Jacques, 19, won the $25,000 DAWTS Junior/Amateur Owner 1.45m Show Jumping Derby Sunday morning at the Hampton Classic, on the final day of competition of this year’s horse show.
The Irish flag flew once again the Hampton Classic for Shane Sweetnam, after he won Saturday’s $70,000 LONGINES Cup with Indra van de Oude Heihoef, owned by the Blue Buckle Group. It was also two years in a row for Sweetnam, as he won this class in 2017 with another of his top mounts, Main Road.
Following two rounds of competition Saturday at the Hampton Classic, Mimi Gochman of Palm Beach, FLA came out on top in the $10,000 Equitation Championship presented by Palm Beach International Academy.
