Hampton Classic Horse Show Offers New Contests for Exhibitors

3'3" Amateur Owner Hunter Division also added to competition schedule

Bridgehampton, NY-May 25, 2010-The 35th Hampton Classic Horse Show returns to Bridgehampton, NY, August 29 - September 5, and features world-class hunter, equitation, and show jumping competition. Exhibitors competing at the Classic can expect to find the same exciting competition as in years past, as well as a few new additions to the schedule.

Included in the list of new events at this year's Hampton Classic Horse Show are a Penny War, a Chalet table give-away, and the new 3'3" amateur-owner hunter division.

"The Hampton Classic Horse Show is a summer favorite for so many riders," said Shanette Barth Cohen, Executive Director of the Hampton Classic. "We are always looking to enhance the experience for our exhibitors, to ensure they have a great time while they are here, both in and out of the ring!"

Making its debut at the Classic this summer will be a Penny War to benefit Humane Equine Aid and Rapid Transport (HEART) Equine Ambulance, sponsored by Equifit. All barns stabling their horses at the Classic can register to receive a penny jar. Exhibitors are asked to add pennies to these jars, with each penny equating to +1 point. The objective is to be the barn with the most points. However, barns can "sabotage" each other by adding nickels, dimes, quarters, or even bills to their competitors' jars, earning them negative points. A nickel would be -5 points; a dime, -10 points; a quarter, -25 points, and so on. The winning barn will receive prizes from Equifit as well as a table in the Horsemen's Chalet at the 2011 Hampton Classic Horse Show.

In addition, the horse show will once again be sponsoring a contest to reward barns and stables that correctly and completely fill out their entry blanks. Barns that have all of their entry forms completed properly and handed in on time with all necessary paper work, including photocopies of all membership cards, horse recordings, and measurement cards (if needed) will be entered into a drawing to receive a free Horsemen's Chalet table at this year's show.

Lastly, the new 3'3" amateur-owner hunter division will be appearing on the competition schedule of the Hampton Classic for the first time this summer as an additional option for amateur hunter riders.

The Hampton Classic's equestrian competition begins on Sunday, August 29 and continues through Sunday, September 5, with hunter, jumper and equitation competition daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.   The show also features more than 70 boutiques, an international food court, pony rides, zoo animals, special attractions, and much more.
