Hampton Classic Horse Show Selects Mary Verrandeaux as Official Poster Artist

Bridgehampton, NY-April 21, 2010-The Hampton Classic Horse Show is pleased to announce Mary Verrandeaux as its poster artist for its 35th annual show. The Classic's iconic posters have illustrated equestrian scenes from around the Bridgehampton showgrounds for decades, and Verrandeaux has been selected to continue the tradition with a poster she created especially for this year's Hampton Classic.

The poster is entitled, "End of the Day" and depicts a horse and rider sharing a reflective moment together during sunset as they leave the show ring and head toward the stabling tents.

"When most people think of horse shows, they envision horses and riders leaping over jumps and accepting ribbons and trophies in front of grandstands full of appreciative spectators," said Shanette Barth Cohen, Executive Director of the Hampton Classic. "However, there is more to this sport than just that. There is a unique relationship that exists between horse and rider, a bond that is evident in the quiet moments before and after competition. Mary's poster captures this relationship. It brings that bond to life."

Verrandeaux, who grew up showing horses and taking care of her family's farm in upstate New York, has always had a passion for artistry. She graduated with honors from Ringling College of Art & Design in 1983 and went on to found Verrandeaux Visual Communications, which would grow into a highly successful business. Twenty-one years later, Verrandeaux sold her company to pursue her dream of becoming a professional artist. Verrandeaux currently paints full-time, and has developed partnerships with many of the country's top equestrian competitions and publications.

In addition to designing this year's Hampton Classic poster, her work has been featured in The Chronicle of the Horse.  She was also the poster artist for the HITS series in Ocala and Indio.  Most recently, Verrandeaux has been invited to display her work in an art show and sale at this year's running of the Kentucky Derby.

The 2010 Hampton Classic poster may be purchased on site in the Boutique Garden during the Hampton Classic, and will be available on the online boutique beginning the week following the show.
