"It's really exciting," said Revers. "I have never been to the Classic before, so it was really great to come here for the first time, have him do so well here and win."
Kingpin won three classes over fences to earn the Small Junior Hunter, 15 & Under, Championship and the High Score Junior Hunter Championship. Revers thought that "Bruno," as he is affectionately called around the barn, performed so well because he liked his new surroundings at the Classic.
"My horse actually likes the big shows," said the Dana Hall School student. "He likes to feel special. The courses really suited him and it was a lot of fun for both of us."
Sophie Gochman and Dominik, owned by David Gochman, won the Small Junior Hunter, 15 & Under, Reserve Championship, but the New York resident fared better in the Large Junior Hunter, 15 & Under, winning the championship on Garfield, owned by Rose Hill Farm, and the reserve championship on Rockette, owned by David Gochman.
Emma Weiss of New York, NY, received the best birthday present from the Hampton Classic winning the Small Junior Hunter, 16-17, Championship with Cheveaux. "I am just so excited; this is the best birthday present ever! We've worked so hard all year," said the newly-turned 17-year-old. "We just moved up to this division last year so we spent the time getting to know the division. This year, we were really trying to grow and get to the top of the class. In the past, this has not been my luckiest horse show. I just can't believe it happened."
Lili Halterman and Genuine were the Reserve Champions in the Small Junior Hunter,16-17.
Lilli Hymowitz and Tiffani, owned by Rose Hill Farm, were named Large Junior Hunter, 16-17, Champions. Kendra Gierkink and Cash Inn, owned by Kadley Holdings, LLC, were Reserve Champions.
